WHY WE LOVE LINEN.....
THE HISTORY
Everyone knows linen is not a new invention! the use of linen dates back to around 8000 BCE, where it was worshiped for its ability to remain cool and fresh in hot climates in the Mediterranean.
The woven master piece is famous for its breathable wear, accompanied by its versatility.
Linen is made from cellulose fibres that grow in the stalk of the flax plant. Did you know linen is the worlds strongest natural fibre?
Modern day linen is still made relatively the same as it was in Ancient Egypt. The process of removing the actual fibre from inside the flax plant is called 'retting.' After the retting process is complete it is then spun into yarn and milled into fabric.
All parts of the flax plant are useful, meaning linen is a zero-waste product as well as being entirely biodegradable!
