Inspired by Marco Polo's travels, Megan explores the colours, textures and patterns of the ancient trade route called the silk road

Megan's travels
On the heels of this story, I travelled to Uzbekistan where ancient silk road cities like Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand still stant and still trade.
I was captivated by their culture and craft still being produced today in the same century old ways. The vastness of the desert countryside, the storks, the camels and the ancient fortress ruins filled me with excitement to create my own version of the silk road.

The Silk Road encapsulates the way cultures have blended and been exchanged over centuries.
Megan has created interesting combinations of textures and shapes through embellishments of wooden beads, oriental coins and printed fabrics.
