Putting on a show!
An insight into what it takes to put on a fashion show!
We asked Megan the ins and outs of what her vision was for this show...
"I was asked to do a runway show at RAC Arena and I leapt at the chance to showcase our Woodlands collection for Winter 24.
The Woodlands is all about a wondrous medieval beginning and a harnessing of the strength of Queens and Land….so I wanted to show the clothing in a royal sense."
How was the styling created?
"I started by layering some of the most narrative prints with textured plains. I wanted to increase the silhouettes of our skirts with our circle tutus as under skirts.
I highlighted our sleeves with over-sleeves of tartan fringing or gathered cotton organdy.
I put ankle stockings with sandals and shoes, and I used our leggings with everything because they are just so beautiful!"
What was the concept and thought behind the headpieces?
"I wanted to create a majesty to the girls who were modelling by creating crowns made from leaves and twigs.
Some were green, some were dried and earthy. The girls came alive when they put on their crowns and embodied the power of the characters I had created.
We all could use a crown…"
As you can see from these show pics, there is so much that has to come together to make an exciting performance..
fitting the clothes to the models,
making accessories,
coordinating shoes
hair and makeup
selecting music
timing the show
rehearsing the walk
dressing the model changes back stage
documenting the show
have we left anything out?
probably!
