There is an isolation to being positioned on the West Coat of Australia that breeds creativity. They say it is the most isolated city in the world.

Before the internet, you had two choices to interact with the world, travel vast distances over the desert to the East coast or traverse the Indian Ocean.

Living and working in Fremantle, I see the Indian Ocean every day. Living so close to the coast gives one a grounding and an unbridled sense of open air and freedom.

This huge ocean, so blue and so warm, invites all kinds of inspiration. There is a magical sense of bounty to this temperate ocean full of promise. and it epitomises Summer to me.

I have literally drawn waves, thought about the flora and fauna beside this ocean mass and collected images to make textiles that speak of life in the West.
